Question: Where'd you get the music?
Edit: Okay cool. Wanted to make sure you weren’t using commercial music you didn’t get the rights to.

Pretty solid breakout game, but the music doesn't start until the second level, plays once, and then doesn't play again.

Blenxo responds:

Oh just some stock music

Pretty solid so far, for a game made within the same type of time span as a short game jam. I'd love to see how it evolves over time! I think the next step would probably be adding music, more sound effects (maybe an 8-bit rumble for the crumbling platforms?), and other quality of life updates.

13x responds:

thx

I think the artistic direction and throwing mechanic are really creative! The one problem I do have to mention is that the enemies are often hard to see against the background and tall grass - at least in the first level, I haven't gotten to the next ones yet. I'd also recommend the option to use Z or X instead of the left mouse button to throw an enemy, for those who prefer to use the arrow keys to move.

Edit: Ooh! I'll stay tuned to see how it evolves!

ScrewdriverGames responds:

Thanks for the review! This game was a jam game I released at the start of the year I only had a few days to finish it thats why it looks lacking in terms of content, hopefully in the future I'll make this into a full fledged game and I'll take your review into consideration!

thank you so very much for playing my game

Seems pretty solid, despite being simple. Is the text meant to go offscreen?

cyl091 responds:

no, I don't think so, it was finished 6 weeks ago and was on hold, all I did was compile it today, so I did not check :1. OH CRAP IT'S NOT FULLSCREEN

Decent idea, but the response on the gun is really slow.

Needs better music, art, and sound effects. Do you need help finding a website that'll give you those?

Edit: There's a lag when I click. Also, if you want to voice act for your own games, why not head to the Voice Acting Forum to ask for tips?

iopna responds:

Do you mean the bullets are too slow, or there is a lag when you click?
The art, music and sounds I designed myself, I understand they may not be to everyone's tastes, but I prefer to produce things that way. Thanks for playing!

Edit: Ah I see, I don't have that same issue with the lag, so unsure how to remedy it. I might head to that forum, it sounds interesting, thanks!

Looks cool so far! I haven't gotten that far into it yet, but I love the aesthetics.

GamesOfShadows responds:

Thanks, happy to hear. ^^

Looks like a cool game so far. I found some stuff that needs fixing, though.

These include loud sounds, coin counter going negative after a death, long text extending past the lower edge of the speech bubble, and the coins looking pixelated because they've been resized to be larger. I'd also recommend having a similar art style across the whole game, rather than pulling assets from different places.

I'd definitely like to see where this goes, though!

Ourf responds:

Yeah, there are lots of bugs and glitches, and out of place things, but this is just a quick sketch of the idea for the game. Like a quick demo to get the idea out. I'm gonna fix all of those issues in the actual game, and the same art style for everything (at least I'll try).

I'm not sure how to log in. The screen also flashes erratically.

Edit: Okay. I put in my username and the login button isn't working.

Update: I can log in now, and it's really cool so far! I haven't seen anyone else show up yet so I don't have a way to die, but I like the aesthetics!

recchemforbin responds:

Maybe i should specify that, you just put in any name you want for your handle. Thanks for letting me know about flashing, will look into that and have update soon. Cheers!

I'm not sure why it's not working, once it connects to master it should be good to login. make sure you're not putting in any symbols like @ just characters. I will certainly be looking into this. Once I put in a name, it takes a second then should log everyone into the same lobby.

**If anyone else has this problem please advise**

I feel like the game would be a lot more achievable if there was a way to jump over gaps. Otherwise, there are spots in both maps that are really easy to get stuck in. New graphics with a consistent art style would also be an improvement. I do like the idea behind it, though, and I’d enjoy seeing where this goes from here!

Magso responds:

Thanks for the tips to make the game controls slightly less annoying, jumping and more attention to level design are good points. As for the art, as an art muggle I've no idea what to do with it other than go for that future neon look. Thanks for playing though!

More complex mechanics would be interesting, as well as either a time limit or a reason for the player to take their time (like finding the happy face in a big picture, etc). I like the general chipperness of the whole game.

RealJop responds:

Thank you! I am planning on adding a timed mode and a hard mode.

I was thinking maybe when you take more time the sad face will get bigger, and when you press the happy face they go back to normal. If you take too long something will happen (explosion?) and you lose. But maybe that's its own mode.
