Love the ambience!

Is it all right if I add this music to a video review of the Costume Jam games, in the part where I play your entry? My software didn't record the music while I played them :(

RosieUV responds:

sure! go ahead. As long as you credit I don't care.

Teaching yourself counterpoint is no small undertaking! It seems to be working well, I'd have to see it as sheet music to properly figure out if you missed anything. I can definitely hear the hard work put in!

HerrGammelig responds:

I might pm you the sheet music if i can make one

I like the composition! I'd be curious to see how it'd sound with higher-quality instrument patches. Does Soundtrap export MIDI?

Ratedkid responds:

You have to get premium subscription to it. I am currently using the free version. I'll try to find a way around it.(I can export individual instruments as .wav )

It's a little bit painfully relatable here. I need to go out and do stuff with my free time, but I don't know where to start or where to find the things I can go do.

Very well composed overall, I like the melodic structure.

ZaneLittle responds:

That makes two of us for sure. Things have a way of working themselves out though! I appreciate the kind words~

I was about to say, I knew this was inspired by Beetlejuice when I first heard it, and I highly approve of that direction. Very well-done overall and great use of the brass, Danny Elfman would be proud.

Beautiful and calming little snippet. Good quality samples used, good playing technique. I’m relaxed now.

Man, this is intense. It’s got a great mix of horror soundtrack and avant-garde contemporary classical. Seems like you’ve got a good grasp of knowing both the standard rules of music and how to break them well. Nice work!

LD-W responds:

Ayy thanks!

This was one of my earlier orchestrations, mostly just having a fun time messing around with different approaches etc. At some point, I'm keen on doing a much more up-to-date counterpart as an evolution of the idea of this track.

Not the best orchestral/choir samples, but the guitar and drum artistry goes too hard to even deduct half a star for that.

Rock in peace, though I never knew of you in life. Wish I’d been there earlier to send a review your way while you were still there to see it.

Not bad! I feel like this is missing some of the repetition that I've heard in a lot of phonk songs - the cowbell parts are simple and don't change often, and they often have the same chord progression for a while with different instruments being added and subtracted. The cowbells also can be pitched down one or more octaves if you wish, since I've heard songs that do that in order to give it a different sound. Also would need more percussion, especially an 808 kick drum.

But it's really cool as an experimental project! I like the instruments you used, they could be a pretty unique twist on phonk. Just needs a little more solid standing in the genre.

It sounds like it’s peaking a little bit, and it’s a little bit hard to hear the effect, but I think this totally has a use in the future!
